Agit8: The Power of Protest Songs

2013

ONE’s agit8 campaign launched in 2013 during the run up to the G8 summit in the UK, was created to urge world leaders to take decisive action towards ending extreme poverty by 2030.

Agit8 campaign by ONE was launched in 2013 during the run up to the G8 summit in the UK, this campaign encouraged world leaders to take decisive action towards ending extreme poverty by 2030. Co-founded by Bono, ONE is a campaigning and advocacy organisation of more than three million people taking action to end extreme poverty and preventable disease. We were commissioned to produce a ten-panel street gallery created in conjunction with the concert, which saw high profile performers and buskers alike given the opportunity to capture the spirit of the protest song. The line up on the stage over the week included Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Jamie Cullum and Tom Jones and was free to the public.

Our exhibition featured photographs of symbolic moments in history and was positioned at the point where the Millennium Bridge meets Tate Modern Gallery- surrounding the stage where these performances took place. These photographs became the context for the main event to help spread the message of the campaign to the general public.
