Ambleside, Cumbria N 54º 22’ 19” W 2º 35’ 01”. Card 150x150mm with recycled envelope and biodegradable cello. Detailed caption on the reverse of the card. Card is blank for your own message. Ambleside has been occupied since Roman Times when the fort of Galava was built there to house 500 soldiers. The remains of the fort can still be seen in Borran’s field at Waterhead. It is situated at the northern end of Windermere which is surrounded by mountainous scenery. Industry in the area has included charcoal making and tool manufacturing as well as mining and quarrying.
