How can you make a difference? - Make a Pledge today!
Make a Pledge (it won’t cost you a penny – in fact it could save you money!) HOW?
We at Earth from the Air want to help you make all the difference you can by pledging to make just a small change in your lifestyle. We have put together a few suggestions of small changes that you can agree to adopt in your day to day life. Ideas that can save valuable resources such as water, electricity, fuel and paper (and not forgetting your money too!)
Pledges such as "putting a brick in the toilet cistern,” would save a third of the average family’s water use that is flushed down the toilet. Every flush uses 12 litres of water – with a brick or water filled plastic tub in your toilet cistern, you will save over 3,000 litres a year. Imagine that 30 million litres can be saved by 10,000 people!
Don’t hesitate – make a difference and make a pledge NOW!!
OUR PLEDGE!
From now until we close, we will try to raise the maximum amount of essential funds to enable AMREF to drill more new water wells and bring clean, fresh water to even more villagers in Africa.
"WALK, CYCLE OR TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORT WHENEVER POSSIBLE"
Did you know....
One litre of fuel can carry a person 4 miles in a large car, 31 miles in a bus with 40 passengers and 34 miles in a train with 300 passengers. A double-decker bus can carry the same number of people as 20 full cars, yet takes up just one seventh of the road space. The UK has the worse traffic congestion in Europe and road transport is responsible for 70% of all carbon monoxide emissions in the UK. Cycling is the most environmentally sound means of transport after walking. So save your time, money and the environment and get on your bike!
"ONLY BOILING THE AMOUNT OF WATER I NEED TO MAKE A CUP OF TEA OR COFFEE"
Did you know....
If everyone did this for just one day we could save enough energy to light every street light in the UK for the following night.
"USING SHORT BURSTS OF WATER FROM THE TAP WHEN BRUSHING MY TEETH"
Did you know....
By just using water in spurts to rinse your toothbrush, you could save 80% of the water you would normally use
"PUTTING A BRICK IN THE TOILET CISTERN"
Did you know....
A third of an average family’s water use is flushed down the toilet. Every flush uses 12 litres of water – with a brick or a water filled plastic tub in your toilet cistern you will save over 3,000 litres a year!
